The Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) has announced that Seblewengele and Bezabih, two beloved characters who have captivated the hearts of Ethiopians, are set to make their long-awaited television debut. This adaptation will bring to life Fiker eske Mekabir, one of the nation’s most cherished literary masterpieces.
"We are thrilled to announce that Seblewengele and Bezabih, two iconic characters who have left an indelible mark on the hearts of Ethiopians, will soon be making their debut on television," says Mr. Getnet Tadese, CEO of the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC).
Mr. Getnet Tadese has revealed that the highly anticipated series Fiker eske Mekabir (literally translated as Love to the Grave) will be aired on EBC in the upcoming year. He also confirmed that EBC has finalized all preparations to introduce fresh and engaging content to the series in the new season.
As part of the ongoing reforms under the "EBC to Content" initiative, the network seeks to offer viewers innovative programming with enhanced content and format, fostering a deeper connection to and appreciation for our national heritage.
Fiker eske Mekabir holds a revered place in Ethiopian literary history. A novel that has touched countless hearts and inspired many readers, it has now been adapted into a film, capturing the essence of the book that shaped so many literary journeys.
Mr. Getnet announced that the film’s premiere is set for September 1, 2017 E.C. The first episode will be available tonight at 12:00 AM on EBC's YouTube channel, @EBCworld, with additional broadcasts on EBC News Channel at 2:00 PM and the Entertainment Channel at 5:30 PM. The film will also be rebroadcast on both channels following the evening news.
