Together with Oromia Region Governor Shemels Abdisa, Prime Minister Abiy and Bill Gates visited the Lema Wheat Cluster and Adama Investment Group’s poultry breeding center in the Dugda District of the Eastern Showa Zone. These initiatives mark significant milestones in Ethiopia’s pursuit of food self-sufficiency.
The visit by Bill Gates also aimed to gain a comprehensive understanding of Ethiopia’s key sectors, including agriculture, health, financial inclusion, and the development of public digital infrastructure.
On his social media page, Prime Minister Abiy highlighted that this is Bill Gates’ second visit to Ethiopia since 2010, emphasizing the Foundation’s crucial role in supporting Ethiopia’s efforts toward sustainable growth and food security.
He also noted that the focus on wheat cluster development and poultry breeding during today’s visit will further strengthen the collaboration between Ethiopia and the Gates Foundation as the country continues on its path toward achieving food self-sufficiency.
