Sudan Disarms Fleeing Ethiopian Soldiers Amid Border Conflict

KT News 07-09-2024/:-
The Sudanese army has disarmed Ethiopian soldiers who crossed into Sudan after retreating from battles with Fano militants. Reports from the Sudan Tribune reveal that the soldiers fled to the Sudanese city of Gelabat following clashes in the border town of Metema, where Fano militants briefly regained control on Monday. The conflict prompted both government troops and hundreds of civilians to seek refuge in Sudan.

Sudanese forces reportedly disarmed 77 Ethiopian soldiers who entered the country. In response to the escalating situation, Sudan has closed its border with Ethiopia and increased its military presence in the area. Eyewitnesses told Deutsche Welle that gunfire between Fano militants and government forces resumed in Metema around 11 a.m. yesterday.
